Momma who im guessing is 15-16 months old (could be older) seems to have started slowing down. 2 days ago I noticed she has been sleeping more, and not staying out as long during play time. When she is up with you she is all go, but when she is left in the play area she only stays out for a little while. I have checked her breathing and it's fine, also there is no porph on her nose or eyes. She still eats the same and her weight has not changed.
Am I right in thinking this could be old age? or should I be looking for something else?

She's not that old really but she could be slowing down. But if she is mroe lethargic it could be something wrong with her so keep a really close eye.

I consider old at about 24 months. But you see slight signs at about 18 months.
Is it very warm where you are? That will definitely slow a rat.
Also fat rats ( I know she's not fat just adding as info) will be very slow and tend to sleep more which is unhealthy and why they should slim down.
I have a group of 14 months old boys and they are all go go go and these are boys. lol

She seems to be fine today, maybe she was just having a bad day?
I will be keepign an eye on her all the same.
Also keep in mind I'm am not certain of her age, I have had her for 13.5 months, after one month of owning her she had 6 babies.

It's def not warm here, haha, still only 5 degrees.
Also she usually has more energy than a baby rat.

Wow, it's that's mild there. We've been getting 30+ here. I thought it might be the weather.
If not, keep an eye on her... slowing down at that age could mean illness or infection so watch for anything that doesn't feel right to you.

warm here is 16 + 20 lol and we dont get that till mid july.
I will be keeping a good eye one her, yesterday she stayed out for all of play time and was acting like herself:)

Oh phew! I've noticed that with my rats, they will have "off" days and then bounce right back to normal. Maybe something spooked her or she had mild indigestion...

We don't usually get temps like that either, it's usually mid July but this year, very strange the heat.

She did have Kale for the first time the night before she started seeming weird, maybe it didn't agree with her? althought everyone else was fine.
