Okay, Trouble's been scaring the daylights out of me twice this week.
Twice now, not in a row, I've found him fast asleep on the highest level, but not in the hammock above it, and I spoke, tapped the bottom of the cage, and even opened the door without waking him. The first time I panicked and touched him and got a good nip for it since I scared him. The second time I spoke and gently touched him, after checking he was breathing, and aroused him a little less suddenly....but it's still got me worried.
Both days this has happened it's been muggy and icky in my room. There's not a ton I can do about that unfortunately as the A/C here is central air and we're trying to use it sparingly until it's unavoidable because their hydro bill is nasty at the moment. I always keep a large fan running and trying and keep the window open if there's a good enough breeze coming through. I've put tera-cotta (sp?) pots in their cages and am thinking of freezing a couple water bottles to lay against the outside by the pots type a deal...but that's another issue...I'm just wondering if it's the heat causing him to sleep so soundly, or his age (19months) - which when he's outside of the cage you'd never know - or possibly something else?
