Scab above penis

Today I noticed a rather large scab on Onyx right above his penis sheath. It doesn't seem sore for him or anything. Could it be possible it was an abscess that he took care of himself? I can't think of what else it might be. I guess I'll just keep an eye on it and see what it does?

If it's an abcess you would need to clean it out. Can you take a pic of it?

It really doesn't seem like an abscess only because there's no "bump" to it. It seems like a flat scab, but it's big. So I'm thinking that if it was an abscess, it's past the pus stage and is now just healing. I also wonder if it's him trailing his stomach on the ground? He is rather obese (especially since his neuter).

It's kind of hard to see with the color of the scab/Onyx's actual color:

It looks like the healing abscess we are dealing with right now. Keep an eye out for swelling and redness, just in case of infection.

Like MomRat said, keep an eye on it. I wonder if it's like a rug burn if his tummy drags on the floor. Can rats get rug burns?

 

I woudl keep a goo deye to it. Afte rmy boy was neutered he developed and abcess in that same spot.

It looks to me like an old abscess that is now healing. I agree with the others, keep an eye on it.
