What do they stand for?
Obviously enough they are sickness the rats have but what do they mean?
I think it's a bit hard for any Rat noobies to understand this including myself!
If there already is one i looked and didn't see it but i think all of you experienced ratty people should get together and make a sticky with descriptions of certain rat diseases. Or maybe just the more common ones and what to do untill you can get to a vet. Something that can be updated every now and then with new information and solutions!
I know it's something you can find on the internet if you look it up but i think many people make a new account here to know what to do because they see how much you guys all know about rats. Personally this is why i joined this forum, i wanted the opinion of people with life experiences rather then a vet telling me "we can never quite know what will happen, there's a risk for everything". I felt lost when Pickle had his tumor on the neck and wasn't sure how risky it was and when he opened his neck again yeah they closed him back up but you guys were great help to tell me what i should do. All i could see was a wound, I couldn't tell if it looked good or not!
I know a sticky wouldn't cover EVERYTHING people have to ask but during an "OH ****! WHAT DO I DO!!??!" moments it would be great help to at least know what MIGHT be wrong with your rat and it might just help people in general. For expample i know what a resparitory infection is from experience but when Crank was just a few month old and cooing like a pidgeon i had no idea what could be done! If I had known back then that a tiny bit of black chocolate might have helped him untill i get him to a vet i would have done so. Some people come here asking why their rats are making an odd noise or "hiccups" without a clue!
So i was thinking maybe have it a bit like this: All on the first post to be updated : name of the sickness, a description of it, the more or less noticable symptons, what to do untill and after the vet visit to help recovery, and maybe a few pictures or videos of what it looks like.
I think it would be great! What do you guys think?
