Today I discovered that Rhubarb's foot and ankle are badly swollen.
He is unable to put any weight on his foot and crys when I touch it.
I'm quite worried about circulation because of the swollen ankle.
Rhubarb (Liverpool baby, now 693 g) has been given baytril and metacam.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Poor baby. My rat was diagnosed with cellulitis and that's how it looked. I had to keep him on only fleece and in a one level cage. I also had to make sure the cage was kept super clean. Jamz was already on Baytril when this happened and vet added Metacam.

It looks like Monkeys cellulitis to me but it's hard to tell really. He might need pain medicine ( I know that Monkey did ) and will need Baytril or another antibiotic to treat the infection.

One of my males, just went through a sprain and it looked very similar to your pictures (I have a post up on it with a few pix). Like Jo said, looks wet as the skin stretches and then he had black bumps on the bottom. He's now completely healed so I hope that it's just a sprain for your baby :hugs:

Great news! Thats what Hansels foot looked like and I freaked out! Luckily the swelling was all down in a couple of days!
