I've read that the standard rule is 4mg to 8mg of revolution per 454.4 g of rat.

But I think that's for cat or kitten Revolution. I have the dog type. The concentration is different. Would that mean the dosage is different?

Leaving work and my computer in about half an hour, hoping for a response before then so I can treat tonight.

how much do your rats weigh?

ratguide suggests 6 mg/kg...your Revo is 120 mg/ml (twice as strong as cat) so half the dose.

Oh, that's awesome, thank you so much :D :D :D

...

When I got home from the vet in December, I was surprised that he had sent me away with dog Rev...he had talked about giving either cat or kitten. So I called, and asked if this was a mistake. I wasn't able to speak to him directly, but an assistant asked him for me and she responded yes, he intended me to have the dog type, and no there was no difference at all between cat and dog Revolution, and his prescribed .08 cc was exactly what they should have. Obviously it didn't kill them back in December. But still. Gets me kind of heated, because that dose sounds closer to what you might give for a big old rat getting cat Rev.

The dose is 4 mg to 8 mg for every 454.4g (pound) of rat according to the Rat Health Care book.
I usually give 6 mg/454.4 g

At 6 mg/454.4 g of 120 mg/ml of revolution
a rat weighing 454 g would get 0.05 cc or 0.05 ml of revolution
and a rat weighing 560 g would get 0.06 c or 0.06 ml of revolution

The rat guide tends to give lower dosage levels for meds.
I would assume that the difference for revolution is so tiny that either source would be fine to use.

Our vet gives us the large cat one, since we have so many to treat. She didnt suggest the dog though, hrmmm. We're due for our second treatment and I think ours is 0.06cc for the largest of our boys. So half that dose would be correct since the dog is twice as potent as the cat.
