Hey all. Well I checked on ratties this morning and noticed some scabs on a few of them. Blech. God Damn Mites. I froze my bedding too dangit.

So I am going to ask the vet to get me some revolution tonight when I go to pick up the 2 boys who are getting neutered. I plan to treat everyone even if they don't show signs of having them.

However, I have Thumbelina and the babies. Should I treat momma? Should I treat the babies? If I treat momma would the treatment come through in her milk to the babies? How should I handle that situation? Or should I just not treat her at all and hope the mites don't move on to her and the babies (which I am sure they will)

Lord, I would really have to ask my vet on this one Staci! You might want to bring it up with your vet when you go to pick up the boys!

Poor little lady. Mites are terrible and nasty little creatures! I remember when my boys had them. The poor little guys were scratching and biting themselves regularly!

when you go to pick up the revolution i would have the vet call their bayer rep. they should be able to find that out for you.....

If it works like advantage multi the product should go into the subq layer of fat, and not be traveled systemically by the organs....but im not sure

If I remember correctly, I think mom will pass it in her milk and the rats will get it when nursing.

So is that a good thing or a bad thing for 3 week old babies?

PS: I will check with my vet but I like to confirm stuff here too!
