No. Advantage is strictly for fleas. Revolution is a topical that takes care of just about any ecto-parasite, and is the only one proven to be safe for rats.

Sorry, I should clarify.... regular advantage is strictly for fleas. There is advantage multi which covers fleas and internal parasites..... neither to be used on rats.

Revolution is based on the drug Selemectin and Pfizer actually has dosing information for it's use on their vet website.

I asked this same question a while back lol I use regular Advantage on my dog/cat, but once every 6 mths. I DO NOT believe these products should be used every 30 days, money gimmic if you ask me. And yes, its heavy stuff.

I suppose I should have searched the forum first  But thanks for the responses - very good to know. Interesting, especially because I had some Advantage left over from the summer (I didn't use it all up on my cats because it IS so strong). I actually think my boys are okay, but I've reading about so many mite and lice problems lately.

My vet called the maker of Advantage and they told her that Advantage can not under any circumstances be used on rats.
