A short time ago Rusalka, one of my first rats, fell off the cage and hurt her back legs. Soon after this she started breathing really bad and leaking porf. She's getting better like crazy. Our new rat vet, Dr. C, is awesome! (So far. Let's not get ahead of ourselves). She was running around the cage for a little while before the appointment, her legs are slowly getting back to some kind of working order. I took the ramp out of the cage because I didn't want her getting hurt and the others can climb up just fine without it. Today she actually climbed up the far wall (from the shelf), into a big hammock and jumped down onto the shelf to eat because she finished the meal I gave her. It's a miracle! I put the ramp back in. She still has a little trouble on those legs which is something given the climbing she just did but thanks to Dr. C and the medicine he mixed and prescribed her breathing is better and her mood seems to be improving. He flavoured with Granadine and she loves to take her medicine.
Odd behavior though: she's more eager to get out of the cage and explore than usual. And that running around the cage this much isn't her usual behavior.
