So i rescued a new little one (see more pics and join in the naming here http://www.jorats.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=12504) and shes a bit on the scruffy side. Her fur seems a bit patchy and different lengths/textures in some places. Is that cause she's young? or wasn't fed properly? She also has a few bare spots

What are those from? Is there anything I should be doing to help her fur grow back? Any tips/ suggustions/info would be greatly appreciated.
on another note... what color is she??

Check for scabs, that could be mice or lice. I'd do a treatment anyways. But it shouldn't be from being young. Do you know how old she is?

I don't know how old she is. She was brought into the SPCA by some people who "found" her outside, but I don't buy that story. She is shy, but super sweet and mellow and doesn't look wild at all. She is small and very skinny and has big feets, so i'm guessing she is pretty young, but she doesn't have a baby face. About how old are they when they start looking like adults?

I already did a revolution dose, just incase. I was looking closer, and in the spots where her fur is more dull and patchy almost looks like there aren't any guard hairs. Could it be leftover from barbering from a previous cagemate that didn't work out? I've never seen barbering so i don't know what it looks like

Different lengths of hair might be growout from a previous cagemate.... I wouldn't have thought of that.

Add a bit of olive oil to the diet as that always helps coat condition, and she'll probably fluff up in no time :)

That's great that you already did a dosing.

Rats start to look like real rats at around 4 weeks but fill out into their adult form at about 6 to 7 months.
If she's molting, that could be around 2 to 4 months old.
