So, somehow, my lovely older men ended up covered in scabs (I am jumping to the first assumption of mites) and thanks to my wonderful vet, he gave me 3 doses of revolution for all 5 rats without a checkup on any of them(Which is great, because I didn't expect revo to cost me as much as it did). So they've all been dosed as of around 6pm today(almost 7 hours ago).

Last night when I noticed the scabs, I also noticed Remus had somehow... lost the skin on the outside of his ear? It didn't look TOO bad, I chalked it up to itching. However, just now I've looked and felt him up, his entire ear is nearly missing all the flesh on the outside of it, and it looks very raw and red. Top it off, I can now FEEL the scabs when I touch him. Just yesterday, I couldn't.

If this IS mites, when will I see results from the revolution? What can I do for his ear? Remus has the sharpest nails of them all and he's also the SQUIRMIEST of them all, theres no way I could clip his nails to try and stem his itching if thats what he's done to his ear. How long do I give the revolution before I start assuming this may be something else?

he's the type of boy to be stressed out by everything... he cant even have out-time for too long, he gets stressed, even if it's on the same blanket he's always been on for out time. he's a silly boy.

His ear looks better today, it's at least LOOKING like he's got half the skin on his ear back, but the scabs are still really easy to feel just from touching him.

All over his shoulders, neck, and upper back? check his face too, especially his chin. Mites looove all those tasty places and especially near the ears...nice blood source up at the surface...yummm.

They are mostly on his upper-half. None on his tummy or hind legs. they start from his middle and the closer to his neck/ears you get, the worse they are. They also feel kind of bad on his sides, but I cant get him to sit still well enough to see the ones there. There's not a chance in heck I can dig through the fur on his face to look, but just from petting i can't feel any scabs on his face.

I keep going through his fur on his back though and theres tiny black dots here and there but they arent moving.

Poor guy looks like he was eaten alive when you pull apart his fur :(

Buggies proliferate really really fast...basically every week a whole new generation is hatched. The location is classic for mites so your Revo should do the trick...the biting has stopped, now its just the drying/healing scabs to be groomed off and he will be fine :D
