One of my babies (my Emmykins) has been sneezing a little bit, and I've noticed a red-ish liquid forming around her nose afterward. Is this normal or should I be concerned?

All my rats that were bought from pet stores did the same thing... I believe its from the pine shavings that they use. Mine all went away on their own after about a week or so, but it might not hurt to get her/him checked out just to be on the safe side. If not, just be a little more observant and make sure it does not get worse. What kind of bedding are use using and is there alot of red????

It's probably just the new home sneezies. Everything is new to her, all the smells are different. I would wait a week and keep an eye on her.
I love your avatar.

The red around the nose is Porphyrin and it is a natural thing for rats.

But, too much porphyrin can be a sign of illness. A little bit that they clean away when they first wake up is fine, but if it lasts all day that usually means they are sneezing all day, and typically ill.

New home sneezes are pretty typical, just watch to see if she stops in the next few days or so :)

The pet store actually uses Carefresh, as do I.

She only gets the sneezies during her and Tilly's free ranging time. I've never seen it until then.

I'm new here, but I just finished reading another thread on sneezing rats and it said that if your little one sneezes only at certain times, like when they're playing or as yours does when she's allowed out to roam, that's perfectly normal. It could be just that she's a little more active and excited so she sneezes. :)
Mine do that too when they're running around like crazy. I still keep an eye on them just to be sure, but I don't worry too much. :)
