Rocky has always had respiratory issues -- we've had him on a bunch of different med combos (baytril, doxy, zeniquin) and none of them seem to do anything. At our last appointment, our vet said she heard no harsh lung sounds but some pretty bad upper congestion. She put him on two weeks of zeniquin + doxy and of course, there were no improvements. If anything, he has gotten a lot worse! He has really bad sneezing fits with multiple sneezes combining to make one garbled sound, and he has started wheezing a bit too. I'm really scared for him, and also really really frustrated!

Does anyone have any ideas about what I should do next? Another vet appointment for sure, but what meds should I ask about? I have a feeling that Rocky won't be around much longer unless he gets some immediate attention. :(

Awww, thanks seanscritters! Rocky is a very special boy -- full of attitude and spunk, and we want him back on his feet so he can continue to harrass his brothers. :D

I forgot to mention in my first post -- Rocky is about 1.5 years, and we've already mentioned zithromax to the vet -- she said that was one of the "alternatives" then promptly prescribed zeniquin without mentioning it again. Soooooo... we might have to remind her about that. I just want to be as prepared as possible so I can get the right meds this time!

can you try a combo of baytril + zithrmycin or baytril + clavamox
Clavamox is good for secondary infections while baytril is good for myco
If something is working, you will want to keep him on it for at least 6 weeks.

We've had that issue too where it seems nothing works. I've even tried benedryl and it would work for a bit but it only came back. So the meds simply kept them maintained, at least it never got worse.

I have one that sneezes all the time but my vet isn't too worried about it as her chest is clear. When she gets into her fits, I pray her nose doesn't start to bleed, Bless her heart.
Hope things will improve for you.
