Has anyone ever had an issue with rats being kept in the same room as other animals? I'm worried maybe my boys can smell the other pets and it's making them scared? Since I'm able to hold them and cuddle them fine but when I try and make them leave the cage they freak out or when I try and put them back up they cling to me

I've never really had an issue, my rats are in the same room as my bunny and were in a place where we had a cat before too. They're just as licky and loving as ever. I know if they're housed in the same room as a snake though that can cause them to be fearful.

Thanks guys.
I intervened and ushered miner away when the squabble broke out. I know I probably shouldn't have but I'm just concerned someone will get hurt. He just pottered off for more sniffing about and a quick belly groom of the other baby. Will try again without carrier.
One of the babies has had his tail bitten! (In his cage) I heard a squabble and lots of squealing and when I bought there one of the babies tails was bleeding. My husband was in the room at the time and says the babies were squabbling with each other and it seemed to get heated prior to the incident but I'm concerned that the tail has strayed into miners cage and he's given it a chomp. There's no damage. Bled for a minute then this morning it's very slightly bruised. Could the other baby have done it maybe? The cages are close together not close enough for limbs to be grabbed but probably enough for a stray tail! Goodness! They're worse than the kids
Thanks for your advise guys. It's very much appreciated

I have a guinea pig and at night 2 dogs n the room and 2 cats that come and go as the please I have a snake n here but the way the room is set up his cage is n like a whole almost there's walls all around him and there's a dog between the snake and rats I was told that with the dog between the rats couldn't smell him I know he hasn't noticed the rats at all

Well... you have predators all over the house... no matter the poor ratties are stressed out! Is there anyway you can keep the piggie and rats in a separate room from the snake, and limit visits from the cats and dogs? I'm sure that would relieve some tension. Stress is horrible on a body, and rats are really, really fragile creatures...

Unfortunately the people I live with won't let any of my caged pets leave my room. I have stopped the cats from coming in at least for a while. The guinea pig isn't bothered by the dogs or snake even when the snake got out he didn't even care
