Rat proofing a ferret cage

Hi everyone,

I just got a ferret cage because I have a bunch of baby rats I'm keeping...but they can fit right through the bars. My older male rat cannot fit through but I want to put all the males together (the baby boys had to be separated from the girls, so they are now in a tiny cage). Does anyone know what I can put over the cage that's safe for rats? Maybe chicken wire? And does anyone know how I should go about securing this to the actual cage, so they can't escape?

Yes wire mesh and zip tie to cage...easy *lol*!
