I know that rats will sometimes pee on each other, and for the longest time I haven't been able to tell who's dominant, they sort of trade roles with grooming and when they scuffle. But for the past few weeks Lumi will pee on Beverly in a certain place almost every time their out playing. It's always a little trail down her right flank, of course I'm not seeing if this happens in the cage while I'm not home, but it's just so odd that it always happens on the same area every time.

When it happens during play time I usually take Bevs and wipe her down with a baby wipe and give her a little brush with a soft cat brush, but I'm wondering if others have rats that like to really pee on their friends, and if so is it always in the same spot?

Mackenzie always climbs onto Madisons face and pees. Usually its just a little but a couple times it was like she was trying to drown her lol
When I put my hand in the cage both of them do this weird little waddle onto the top of it and mark me.
I had never seen this with my boys, but then again all of my boys have been neutered while they were still young so maybe that's why.

They will mark their buddy during out time more so than in the cage because they are trying to control their "herd" so to speak.
But... some rats when they become extremely hormonal and territorial will become wet naturally on the flanks, it's like they are excreting "liquid?" from their scent glands which is located on the flanks.

I have never had this happen....not saying they don't do it but I have never seen it during out time.....maybe cause mine are all spayed and neutered?

I'm sure it's pee, they're never agressive or hormonal, I almost never notice when they're heat. I just thought it was strange it was only in the same place. Though pee covered rats are only slighty less fun, I don't mind too much lol. But the first time my husband saw this, he's like 'uh, one of the rats is wet' and I know he would be completely put off by it if he knew it was pee. Also they rarely pee on me anymore.
