The image didn't work so here's the link; http://pandemoniumfire.deviantart.com/art/Rat-Markings-v2-179631981

I was asked if I could post this here. If you think I've got something wrong or you would like another marking added please comment but with proof that the marking or editing is real. You may think something isn't right (I did when I was making it) but it may actual be right based on proof/evidence.

I hope you enjoy :D

Haha I was just thinking about this earlier and was wondering if I should post the link. Didn't know it was you.

I never heard the term cashback. We say bareback. As for proof, can't really do proof since nothing is official nor documented by credited professionals. All the names of the markings is really word of mouth and accepted by a community of rat lovers.
Also, I just want to add that being a breeder or running a rat club does not give you credentials.
It does make for a good reference sheet on markings.

I agree with this. I have not ever heard of some of the names being used on that sheet. Many of those markings are not standardized either, so you can call them anything you want and it wouldn't matter. Those particular markings are just considered "mismarks". And I also agree that being part of a club or being a breeder also doesn't mean anything. Some clubs are better tahn others, but all clubs are only as good as their code of ethics (if any exist), rules, and members. Some breeders are better than others, and some breeders know less than non-breeders! Again breeders are only as good as their code of ethics, practices, etc.

Is siamese/himi on that list? I don't see it. It's possible I'm blind, though. Heh.

Siamese, Himalayan, and Burmese aren't technically markings, but are actually patterns. Markings are considered anything with white, as opposed to color. (Technically tortie shouldn't be on that list either, but I guess its included since they say it needs to have white - however whit would make it calico not tortie, and neither one is a true genetic variation in rats, but rather every single one seen so far has been a somatic mutation or well rusted rat.)

Ahhh okay. Every list of "markings" I've seen like that has included Siamese/Himi/Burmese.

There are quite a few markings on that list I've never heard of, tortie included. I didn't think tortie existed in rats.

Now that I think of it... I think I have seen Siamese/Himi/Burmese included in "markings" before too... even though its not entirely accurate. Some organization have a separate section just for them, "color patterns" or "color-points". Merle is often included in "color patterns" too.

I'm not saying that clubs have credentials but they do have standards which they go by in the judging process. Bareback is used in America and the UK, however my sheet draws information from global sources and some of these are known only to some clubs.

I know some of these aren't standardized, that's why I've got a disclaimer pointing that out. However it depends on where you live. Some of these markings aren't standardized in some countries why they are in others. I looked through a lot of club standards (the ones used for judging)

Originally I had them on my markings list but after a lot of research I decided I wouldn't include them and instead put them on their own seperate sheet. They aren't markings as such, more a colouration as a lot of the siam/himi/burm markings are listed in their seperate colours.
