Rat lightly squeaks when she's walking around.

I'm babysitting my boyfriends rat for the week and I've noticed that as she walks around or sometimes when I pick her up she lighty squeaks. I felt around to see if she would squeak, thinking something inside hurts.. but she didn't. Also she nibbles when shes excited... kind of annoying. Any ideas/thoughts?

Could she be in pain? How is she acting otherwise? Good appetite, very active...

she eats quite a bit, shes chubby. loves to adventure around the house. we let her loose and she just walks around.

Pika always squeaks in protest when I pick her up. She squeaks when any rat grooms her she just always has. She is just a noisey little bugger.

ah... maybe this rat is very vocal.

I've had a couple of vocal rats. Has she always been vocal? It doesn't start out of the blue. They squeak at every little thing but not for walking around.

it started about a month ago i think.

How old is the rat?

 

[Rhonda]

just under a year or is a year.

Do you notice any other changes? loss of appetite, less active, sits in a corner and hardly moves.

 

[Rhonda]

Nope, she jumps and runs around and eats a lot. Very spunky.

She might just be a vocal girl then. Keep an eye on her.
