hi there!
so i have had my two rat ladies for 6 months now. it took quite some time and effort to get them tame (they were pretty jumpy for the first few weeks). i used to get them out for a minimum of an hour every day for at least the first 3 months i'd say. that was what i read online was recommended for them to be as happy/healthy as possible.
they seemed to enjoy running about eventually in the hallway, with lots of treats to find, though still always went to the door they knew had their cage behind it and were always eager to get back inside.
since we moved they don't seem to care much for being out at all. they spend the whole time trying to climb back up the shelves their cage is sitting on. i don't think they are scared, they just seem to prefer to be in their cage even when there are treats and boxes to play and hide in.
i am getting discouraged from taking the time to make that effort for them every day when they don't seem to care much for it. is it unhealthy for them to stay in their cage all the time? how do i make this more fun? i want to take the best care of them i can...
