Hi everyone.

Many of you know of my recent loss of Lily. Well, now her "sister" is acting very strange. I feel so terrible for her, it's like she's mourning or something.

She is skittish and terrified, as if she believes that she is "next".

Has anyone else experienced this? What can I do to help her get over Lily? I feel so bad for her. :sad3:

Thanks.

It's very common for bonded rats to grieve when they lose their cage buddy. Spend a lot of time with her. You might want to start back and re-socialize her.
Will you be getting her some new buddies? That might be what will make her snap out of it.

My Murdock took losing his Henry VERY hard. He mourned for months, even with other cagemates...
Like Jo said, spend lots of time with her, and get her some friends to help take her mind off of it too.
:hugs:

I had one rat who became very withdrawn when she lost her sister. I actually brought her to the vet because I thought she had also become ill but she was in good health. Eventually she became her old self again but I really believe she was mourning her sister.
