Ever since Quinn went to the vets to be neutered his stool has been smaller; not the size of a hamster mind you, but roughly half the size it used to be. He's eating and drinking well and is still getting fruits/veg/other along with his blocks and water ad-lib.

He seems to be acting normally as well (interested in what's going on around him, but still shy) and there doesn't seem to be any discomfort. His neck is also healed up with just a thin scab over a tiny little area (the puncture wound).

Should I be concerned? Should I be giving him some sort of laxative if it continues or has the lack of testicles suddenly decreased his raisin stature, lol. :cheeky:

nope, no antibiotics. The vet gave him a shot of baytril (and yes, I have checked the injection site and there isn't any issue with it) when he was neutered on Wednesday and gave me baytril to use if he started digging at his neck again...when she cleaned it up and shaved the area she found no swelling, no infection, etc. It's healed great and I don't think he needs the antibiotics.

I don't have him on any prebiotics/probiotics either though. I used to take some (gel caps, name is on the tip of my tongue...ugh, will remember it the minute I lay down to sleep, lol). Should I be trying to get some into him? Is the smaller stool size something to be really concerned about?

Sometimes it takes a while after any operation for the rat to get back to normal poops. I've noticed that in some of mine.

Great :) shall continue as we're going :) He was up at the bars looking for some treats this morning. I need to get some new pictures of his neck; you'll be shocked at the difference so quickly.

His coat is already softer and he seems to be all recovered from his neuter. Was a great idea, thanks again Shel.
