Hello all,

Lately, I've been to the vet with Big Mama here and Boo. By the way, Boo fought her lump beautifully with antibiotics. However, i bought Big Mama because her right eye keeps getting full of polyporin. The doc said she had no URL or any other respiratory issues. Then, what could be causing this. It isn't stopping and I noticed that the eye itself seen to have a red taint in it. Big Mama is active and acting normally too.

My Rodeo has a constant leaky eye. There's nothing else wrong with him. I've treated him and still has it. I'm going to guess and overactive duct or something. I just leave it be now. He cleans it often enough.

The red tint to the eye... is your rat ruby-eyed?

Some of mine produce an excess amount of porphyrin, with no symptoms of a URI, so I just chalk it up to overactive ducts.

Oki cuz her eyes have always been super clean before. And yes, she has black eyes but sometimes, I don't know if it's me cuz it's rather hard to see but sometimes, I notice there's a red teint in the leaky eye.

What colour rat is she? Some rats have red eyes but it's so dark they seem black.
If she's not a red eyed rat and you see a red tint, I'd bring her in for a vet check.

She's got ruby eyes, then :)

Beige is actually black with the color diluted by the RED (red-eye dilute) gene. I think that's how it works. I'm no expert on genetics, though.
