Question about fur

So as you know Hermione had some kids 5 months ago. Hard to believe they're going to be 5 months on the 16th! Hermione is a double rex (almost hairless she has just a bit of hair on her nose) the fathers both were furred kids. Her Kids were all born with straight fur but have always felt a lot softer and kinda different to any other rat we've had.

We noticed tonight that on Jadzia's belly that she is starting to go bald a bit. I tried to take a picture but she's just too squirmy lol
I am wondering if this could be because their mother passed on some Rex genes? Could it be possible that they would start loosing hair at this time or if they were going to be patchy rex's would it have shown up earlier?

Anything is possible. But I would think more that she's barbering herself or someone is a hard groomer.
Rex and double rex are all mutations so lord only knows what else mutated along the way.

My sister has a rat, her fur is so soft, it feels exactly like a mini rex rabbit. I've never felt that on a rat before. Her siblings don't have her fur at all.

hmm weird...or I wonder if it's from her squeezing in and out of the FN bars? lol 'cause she can still fit through!

lol she's determined! Though I noticed kes is starting to have trouble squeezin through so at least she's almost too big

They say that rats can really squeeze through the tightest places but, hopefully they don't one day get stuck. That happened once to one of mine. I had a hell of a time trying to push her back in. It was scary.
