Ok so, my boy cain, I've made a few posts about. He started breathing REALLY heavy about 2 months ago, it was REALLY bad so I'm almost positive he has permenant lung damage. I got him on baytril and doxy for about 3 weeks. During this time, his breathing did not slow down at all and when he was at the vet she said his lungs sounded very clear. So I'm out of meds now and I have been for over a week he got down to skin and bones for a while and slept a lot. The last 3-4 days he started eating more again and has put on weight and is more active and i SWEAR is breathing seems a tiny bit slower although it is still fast. I'm broke for a couple more days that is why I have no meds but the meds did not seem to do anything. I did not know what else to do so I figured well I'll just give him some amoxicillin that I have for them stored.. I dont know if it did anything.. maybe not.
What I want to know is.. could this be another problem? I'm pretty sure they can't get better on their own lol or could this be permanent lung damage where he is better but will always breathe heavy? And when rats have lung damage how heavy do they always breathe afterwards cause it is still pretty heavy... Hes quite active still.. and again randomly eating more when he almost stopped completly half a week ago.
