Kielbasa has not been well since his abscess removal. I noticed that lately he's been eating primarily IN the food bowl rather than taking bits to other parts of the cage like the other rats do. I dealt with (what I think was) PT about a month ago, and Basa is closely related to Jet. He is also 18-19 months old. He doesn't seem confused like Jet was, but he knuckles a lot, and looks wobbly in general. Anyway, here's a video of him eating a bit of banana and walking a little. He can't hold the banana and keeps trying to eat it off the table.

Classic symptoms, I am so sorry. :sad3:

Time for steroid therapy...he looks good other than the PT so it might extend his quality of life. Will your vet prescribe it?

I'm so sorry, it does look like a PT... :(
Are you sure about his age? He looks so old in that video.
Here's hoping you can try him on some steroids and it gives you some more time with him.

Yes, I'm sure of his age since I've had him from a wee tyke. He looks terrible because he's been ill for a while, with his mouth abscess it made his tooth hurt and he didn't want to eat. I can't believe just months ago he was a healthy 600g boy, full of life. :(

I am going to ask my vet about steroid therapy. He does still seem optimistic and is doing his best to groom. He must be starting to get confused because he just wanders around which is totally uncharacteristic for him. I'm making him mush with blocks, baby cereal, and ensure but I feel like I may have to start syringe feeding, he just mushes it around with his face.
