Good evening!
Just a quick question for some of you who have a little more experience with rats.
My ratty SweetPea had a tumor removed about 4 weeks ago (my first rat surgery). His recovery was quick and he is doing very well :). One thing has me puzzled though...his fur is not growing in where he was shaved for surgery (right side of abdomen)there was about 2.5 inches of baldness. the fur right along the incision was has grown in, but there is still about an inch stripe of skin with nothing more than "peach fuzz". He doesn't seem bothered by it at all, and he doesn't groom excessively or anything unusual that I have seen.

Has anyone else experienced this? :?

I remember in some of mine taking quite a long time for the fur to come in but I can't quite remember if it was only in a specific spot. But I don't think I'd be too concerned about it.

My girl Etta was spayed shortly before she came home to me, and it seemed to take FOREVER for her shaved bit to grow in completely. The guard hairs in that spot came in faster than the softer coat, and it gave her a very odd combover look. Her cagemate Cecily did not have the same issue.

I wouldn't worry about it too much as long as the skin looks nice and healthy :)
