I woke up this morning and heard this weird gurgling snore sounding noise coming from the rat cage, so I went to look and Scooby was laying on the floor of the cage with his eyes open but completely limp and unresponsive. I grabbed him and he didn't even move. I set him on the counter to see if he could stand and he tipped over. :sad3: He was perfectly fine last night and his antibiotics completely cleared up his sneezing. I ran to my vet, luckily it's only a block away. When I got to the vet he stopped making that noise and I was pretty sure he was starting to die in my arms, but he started making doing it again. His vet looked at him and listened to his lungs and they were completely clear. She said it seemed like he might be making that noise out of pain. She's really confused about what could be wrong with him. He seems almost paralyzed but we did see him slightly move his front feet. He seems drunk almost. It seems like he's in shock and she thinks it could be a head injury. :'( She gave him steroids and pumped him with fluids, and gave him some sugar in case his blood sugar is low. He liked the sugar and swallowed it... so that's good. His stools are solid and normal. He calmed down once he was at the vet and stopped making the gurgling noise. They have him in a warm incubator and I have to go check on him at 2pm, in an hour. I'm scared to go back to find out if he's okay or not. I feel so guilty, I knew I should have put a hammock underneath the third level of their cage. There isn't much room for him to have fallen but it's possible. I love him so much, I hope he's okay. :'( Has anyone else experienced anything like this or have any idea what it could be if not a head injury?? Is there anything I should mention or bring up to my vet?? Please keep Scooby in your thoughts, I love my sweet boy so much.
