I have 3 rats all just turnt one, one of them has had a history with cysts and two have already been removed once unfortunately causing her to lose half her tail, my youngest rat had a lump once directly on her nipple which after a few days went, im not sure what this was but she's fine now. Lastly my other rat has a cyst just under her armpit which she is due to have cut out soon.. However today I noticed she has a tiny lump directly on her nipple the same as which my youngest had I'm not sure wether to rush her to the vet and have it removed straight away or leave it to see if it goes like the other one can anyone give me some advice or maybe let me know if it's related to my youngests lump that disappeared?
Thank you!

Are these cysts or mammary tumours that are under the armpit?
To me, it seems more like a mammary tumour in this location

As for the new lump, how big is it and how fast is it growing?

It doesn't feel attached and it's not hard at all so it's more likely to be cyst.. There is a chance it could be a tumour though, the new lump I noticed today it's smaller than a pea but it's directly on her nipple not sure if it could be a blocked milk duct?

Keep an eye on them .... as Jenny said, given the positions, it is likely that they are mammary tumours,
although cysts and abcesses may be posibilities.
You can apply a damp warm cloth to the lumps to try to bring them to a head if they are abcesses.

Since you have her scheduled for surgery, perhaps the vet can remove both of them.
If they are growing fast, she may need to see a vet sooner rather then later.

If you post pictures, someone may be able to give you more info.

I agree with the others, they sound like your typical benign mammary tumours. Most females get them. It's a shame really. How old are the girls?
I get all my females spayed to reduce the chance of mammary tumours. And it works!
