Do you think that she's too skinny?
She's been sneezing latley, but now it's kind-of to a sease.. I changed her powdery bedding to yesterdays news i believe. and Now she's stopped.
Her name is Chu and i've had her just recently, and I'd really like it if you could tell me acouple of things about like.. how to heat up a rat, or What to do if my rat is prego..
Because My other rat Moo.., the one i'm quite worried about.. with the prego comment i made..

Is really fat, and her nipples are not really covered up anymore.
Is it possible that the Petco, i know baddd choice.. but it's all i have.., Or petstore could've selled me a prego. pet rat?
Anyway, if you can't see the pictures they're down here..
And i'm really sorry for bothering you if i did..
But i don't want to loose my babies...

Chu looks lean but fine...can you feel her bones through her skin easily or is there a nice layer of lean muscle?

Moo might be preggers...when was the last time she had access to a male?

What do you mean about heating up a rat? Like when they are sick or cold?

Powdery beddings make rats sneeze like crazy. You should notice a real difference now that you have changed it.

She looks a bit skinny but should fill out with a good diet of lab blocks, vegs and fruit..
Rats eat a little bit over 24 hours so good to always have good quality lab blocks in their food dish.

Your other girl could be pregnant ... or she could just be plump.
Many people purchase girls at pet stores and later discover that their rattie is pregnant. But lots of rats purchased at pet stores are not pregnant. How long have you had her?

Hi Miya, I personally don't find your Chu too skinny. And I also don't think that Moo look pregnant, not yet anyway, she could grow bigger. :wink:

For Chu, does it look like her sides sink in when she breathes? If not, then I wouldn't worry about it. But keep working on your parents to try and bring these two little sweet ones to the vet.

Well And chu, no her sides don't sink in, but I have NEVER in my life seen a rat that skinny, like... She's not DEATH skinny.. I don't know.
And I ment on the heating up thing, like If it was wayyy to cold in the room.
My rooms temp is been on.. 66 for along time, and she's still warm.. but I was just wondering If it was way to cold for them.

And I don't know how long she's actually been with a male :roll: I got her from a PetCo, and Didn't exspect her to live... They both sneezed like crazy sneezers... But now the sneezing is only when I give them veggies, n' i guess they sneeze a bit too much.
Well i have to go to school now... lol It's bring an animal day, so I get to take my big ol' carrier and put Moo and Chu in it...
I hope that dosen't scare them.

Can you weigh Moo at all? digital scale? kitchen scale? This last week is when you will notice preggy weight gain.

I don't think either one of them look bad. My Lilly and Jazmine are very slim slender girls. And Jazmine is very slim all muscle not a gram of fat. And I don't think the other looks pregnant. The Petco's here keep their males and females in separated cages so I would assume all Petco's are that way.

Moo looks just like my Sunflower little round belly because she LOVES to eat. Sunflower is about 6 months now and looks just like her. Sunflower is pretty small I think.

MelissasZoo, Petco is the most notorious ones for mixing their sexes. On other forums, you hear "I just bought some rats and they had babies"...We all just say to them "Did you buy from Petco?" You are a lucky person but definitely your PetCo is in the minority :lol:

Wow, I guess I was lucky. I did however one time was looking at a little rex and when I picked what was supposed to be a her up you could see he was a boy just very good at hiding his man parts. The lady was like thank goodness you saw him and immediately put him in the boy tank(and it was on Wednesday when they get new stock in so it was the delivery guys fault for not paying attention, they were 5 week old babies) She said we don't want any surprises that's why they are separated. And we have two Petsmarts here where I live and one store is an all male store and the other is an all female store. But regardless no more petstore rats for me.

I really do think that Moo is only because, don't female rats like to Burry under things? OR make nest?

And i think i'd enjoy having little moo's walking around, i'd love to keep them.... I just don't know if i can... My parents will probably CHEW me out for getting them in the first place[they know and all, it's just they don't like them]
Pluss... don't some PETCO's take little babbies?... I'm not quite sure i'd like to give them mine though, i don't wnat them exactly eaten...
damnit... I wish i lived where you people did, with rat breeders and stuff...

I was at the pet store yesterday for an exposure of sorts for myself and was looking at all the young rats...I was just horrified that they had mixed the genders and these ones were about 7-8 weeks old.

Thats horrible, that they'd mix the genders! And yes, my parents arn't THAT fond of the rats, but it's only my dad... And thats pretty much were all the money, and avaliability comes from. And I had to beg to get them..
I don't know, he said that he'd help me, and that my brother would probably take acouple of baby ratties, so I was pretty excited.
Sorry if i'm making this a big deal, but What do you do if she IS pregnate?
