Oh dear, when it rains, it pours. My sweet Millie girl really isn't doing well.
Ever since I brought her home last December, she has been such an odd thing - my rescue folks once commented that it looked like she had been inbred to the point of stupidity. Physically she was healthy (albeit a bit pudgy), but mentally it seemed she was several nuts short of a full bushel.
Last month, I noticed that she was "slowing down" and was more ... off than usual. It takes such a long time for her to register that I'm dangling treats in front of her nose. She's become extremely clumsy, and has a hard time walking around, getting into hammocks, and balancing on her hind feet. Her left eyes is constantly leaking porph. She shakes her head frequently. This week, she's forgotten how to drink her Ensure - instead of lapping it up with her tongue, she dunks her nose in too and tries to breath and drink at the same time and will start choking. Most telling is that she's become incapable of holding food in her paws.
I got so distracted with Rufus' head tilt along with his and Odin's fighting injuries, that I kept excusing these new developments as signs old age complicated by inbreeding. I think I'll start her on prednisone when I get home.
