Pea sized lump

My almost year old neutered agouti boy has a lump and I am curious as to what you all think about it. It's under his front right leg and has been there for at least a few months. It is loose under his skin, meaning that it is not growing out from the muscle, but sort of free floating in the loose skin. It is sort of hard, and dosent seem to cause him distress when i squeeze it. It also hasnt changed in size or texture. Wierd. Thoughts?

I wonder if it could be just fatty tissue?

it may be a lipoma like Jo mentioned....could also be a sebaceous cyst....my dog has one actually under her ear its about the size of a pea too, unattached, hasnt been growing - the vet just told me to keep an eye on it

It felt sort of like a cyst when I held him a few weeks back Sam. Lou and Stan both had those type of cyst type things (Lou had one and Stan had two in one spot), for them they never grew, were sort of just on the skin.
