and we will be off to the vet tommorow probably to have her eye removed ..sigh .. someone scratched the lid and apparently the eye as well .. its been closed and ive been wiping it down with warm water ..now its open and i thought that was good ..but no, not really .. her eye is white and the area is swelling .. i feel sorry for me for going thru so much lately (hey, being honest :shock: ) but even more so , i feel sorry for her .. poor baby ..she has gone thru so much .. prayers and good energy, please so that she comes thru whatever needs to be done to her well

UGH OMG I know what you mean. We are normally good for money and a lot has happened and things got tight and then of course my rat got sick.... JUST had enough for meds but hes still sick so I think he needs more (hoping he will hang in there until I can get him into the vet) I think another rat of mine is getting sick, one of my other boys has an abcsess and then I have a million things going on in my life... :gaah: ...Im just so overwelmed right now and so paranoid about my rats...... they ALWAYS only get sick when I barely have money to spare :no:

Your vet might want to try meds first. I've had a few rats with a scratched eye and made a full recovery without the need of any surgery.

well we are home .. no eye removal -yet-thank god .. we got a tube of antibiotics and i got annoyed by the vet .. i have touted the animal hospital we take our guys to to everyone i kno in the area - we looooove Dr Mehlin the partner ..today because i just wanted Pinkie to be seen by whoever could see her when we walked in at 5, we got to see the head dr, Dr Perez. He has the bedside manners of a rock .. poor little girl was already distressed and he was impatient with her and kinda pushed her around .. i didnt like it very much .. :redhot: Hoping the meds do the trick and she gets well enough where we dont have to go back to him for any 'adjustments' ..ill still go there but from now on ill request Dr Mehlin specifically.

Pinkie is resting well but im concerned because her eye is pushing out so much .. Sigh .. crossing my finger and hoping the swelling goes down in the next day or two

quick update .. the swelling went all the way down with the meds and we will see what the dr has to say when she sees him the first week of march. Her affected eye seems to be much smaller than the other one now, and i dont think she has sight in it, but thank god at least that it didnt rupture.
