Sam is about 5 months old, and is turning into a bullying a**hole over the past week. First, it was a fight with his brother that drew blood, then he attacked - not trying to dominate - ATTACKED Shredder, the old feeble guy, who did not provoke it, in fact he put his head down and turned away when Sam first came up. But now, he's bullying Splinter so much that I removed him from his cage. Splinter is very easy-going, and right now he's stressed out very much, porphyrin leaking out of his nose and jumpy. I took Sam out over night to let him cool off, tried again this morning, he went right back for him. Even when Splinter rolls over and submits, Sam bites and pounces on him and gets so riled up that when I pick him up he squeals and tries to bolt.

It's petty sad, because Splinter really needed a buddy and they got along great. This seems to have started a couple days after I brought Geisha home, Is it possible she's causing this? Her smell on me maybe? Do males act weird around pregnant females? Because I certainly have Lilith's smell all over me before I go to the boys..

Everyone here has SOMETHING going on I swear
I love Sam to death, but it's not fair to the other rats and it's sad that he has to be alone. Maybe if he gets snipped he can live with the girls.. He's the one in my avatar.

Don't let this face fool you! He's being pitiful because he's in a spare tank I have until I figure out what to do.

If you get him neutered, he will very likely be able to live with your males without issue. Some males react to intact females in the same environment, another reason to have at least one gender sterilized.

And some males just cannot cope with the stress from their testicles so they will only be happy once you have them neutered. Even if the girls in the house are spayed, the boys will still go nuts. My brat boys LOVE my girls. They are extremely happy to meet them. You have to wait a few weeks after the neuter to make sure the sperm is gone but other than that it usually works out.
