I have a 3:30 appt with dr. F. Obie has been getting bony around the hips and consequently had a lot of flabby weightloss skin sort of dragging near his rear. Noticed the other day that it no longer seems to be just skin/fat, but the area around his testes seems rounded and swollen. Hard to tell what's what since he's fat, and the testes and skin/fat all sort of blend together there. I honestly have no clue if I'm just paranoid and my chubby bunny is dragging some extra lard around, or if there's something inside. I can't feel any definite mass, its rather like his whole left teste is just swollen. Obie is still eating and pooping and peeing okay, but he's definitely struggling to manuver around these past few days. Dr. F did bear's surgery to remove a bunch of necrotic skin by his bum, so at least I know he's more than familiar with that area.

Dr. F was very backed up so we got Dr. P instead, who I absolutely love. He couldn't tell what he was feeling either so xrays were done. Left testicle has a large mass growing inside, whole area very enlarged but the right testicle was normal. Xray was otherwise normal, mass doesn't appear to have spread. For an old timer, Obie is otherwise healthy - heart and lungs looked and sounded normal, no other visible masses on xray. Neuter scheduled for Friday. Ha, and to think I tried numerous times before to get OB neutered, something would always come up and the money was needed for other rats. Finally accepted it would never happen and was no longer needful since he found friends he could actualy get along with, and now this. Not jazzed to put a fatty old man in for surgery but the only other choice is to put him to sleep within the next probably 2 weeks, since his life quality isn't great at the moment and will only get worse.
