I dropped my sweet boy off this morning with Dr. P for a neuter. He has a large testicular tumor. Dr. P is amazing and very optimistic, but I can't help but be worried sick. Obie isn't exactly a youngster anymore. Sigh. Waiting sucks.

Dr. P just called to let me know they were done and my old boy was awake and alert. Still quite groggy, and they'll watch him for a few hours. He said the tumor was actually quite stubborn, took some work to get all of it. More details from Dr. P I hope when I pick Obie up after work. Heh, I couldn't get anything done at work all morning for worry, and now won't get done anything all afternoon from impatience to pick up my squishy old man.

Apparently Dr. P waited after surgery for awhile, he didn't want to call with good news until he thought Obie was in the clear. He performed a whole 'nother surgery, then came back to check Obie, he was okay so he called. Five minutes later he stopped breathing. They got his heart going but he wasn't breathing on his own so they helped him go.

Oh Sweetie. I"m so sorry. :tearful:

What an absolute shock!!! Let me know if you are able to talk about it and I will give you a call. :rose:

Thank you all for the kind words. I can't say I'm shocked; I knew surgery was a risk. But without the surgery, he didn't have much time left ahead of him. So I'm glad we tried. I will pick him up tomorrow so he can be buried at home.

What a terrible and unexpected loss. Words are not enough to express the heartache. I am so sorry. Obie was a good rat, and he will certainly be missed. ((Hugs))
