I've been watching bliss, and she has now (twice) gone to jump up on a shelf, and grabbed with her front paws. She then isn't able to get her hind end up, and ends up letting herself just drop after she struggles for awhile...
Any ideas what this is?

(hope my post made sense.)

How old is Bliss? Could this be just normal aging?

Does she show any other symptoms? i.e. any problems with her hind end or changes in the way she's walking?

My girls each had trouble getting onto the shelves as they aged. They never developed signs of HED or anything else seemingly related, but a little at a time, they were no longer able to jump and climb as they used to.

She is gonna be a year old in february. So i don't think it could be normal aging... could it?
No other symptoms that i've seen. :/

I just bought the superpet 2x2 multi level ferret home. (picture below.)
It has ridges on the shelf so it shouldn't be too hard for her to pull herself up...

My rats had a horrible time getting up and down in that thing. Put more hammocks up and see if that helps. You can get a scarf, a wide one and use it like a platform, mine would use that to get up and down.

Those shelves are slippery and rats cannot crasp them well from what i saw.

I dont think most rats are "made" for pulling themselves up. This i get from my own rats. They never pull up, they end up falling if they are in the position they need to pull themselves up. Rats can jump, and climb like no other but I dont believe most have the upper body strength to pull themselves up.

Do you have all the ramps/tunnels? She should be able to use those. Try putting in home made pathways up and down, or make some pretty liners. :]

I have all the ramps and levels and such (just bought it yesterday. xD)
I've got a hammock at the second level acting as shelf, and I'm just looking through what i have in hopes i can find something for the bottom level.
