I just got a big proper cage for my trio boys, and whilst they do explore, they seems to forget me as compared to when they were in a growing out cage. They moved in last night.

I still take them out as always tonight, I am wondering if it is normal for them to do this?

Are you saying they seem scared of you, or scared of their new surroundings? I think it is normal for rats to feel a bit displaced and disoriented in a new cage, but usually their excitement for their cool new space overrides their fear. You say they seem to "forget" you - perhaps they're just preoccupied with their exciting new surroundings.

When I move mine into a new cage they run around like crazy exploring. They don't pay attention to me because they are so interested in everything new. It only lasts a half hour or so. But, if I put them in a new cage in a new room (so it doesn't smell like their home at all) then most of them act nervous for a while because it's a completely new environment.

Thanks you both!
I had them out and then I fed them some Romaine and they seems happier now :)
They seems very out of place and hid around last night - They were exploring just now which looks better to me.

I still can't forget how the boys dash up to me from the door when I talked to them last night - They seemed to have a fear for it, and today they kept wanting to go back in so I had to get them out to "remember" me of some sorts again - It seems they forgotten about who I was for a moment.

Silly rats getting people all worried, as usual. :giggle:
