Has anyone ever encountered this? 4 generations of kids. A grandpa, a father, a pregnant mother & her son end up in rescue. All are easygoing. Mom gives birth to 12 babies there, 7 survive, 2 girls, 5 boys. The babies aren't so interactive with people. Mom, the girls & 2 boys get adopted, no complaints (made) about the boys or mom , the girls are good but not real interactive, and 1 will bite you if she's running free and you try to grab her to put her back in cage. Grandpa, father, 1st litter son, and 3 2nd litter boys are left. Grandpa, father & 1st litter son never bite, tho the 3 2nd litter boys nip if you don't watch your fingers. Grandpa passes away, dad is adopted unneutered. 1st litter son and 3 2nd litter boys are neutered. All 4 become nasty-bitey with fingers after the neuter, 1st litter son will actually rush to fingers not even near him to attack & bite deeply.
So how do 4 boys from same family suddenly become really nasty after being neutered when 3 were only nippy before and their older brother never bit before? They're supposed to mellow after a neuter. Genetics? But Dad & Grandpa were sweet & interactive & never bit. It's like the line got increasingly less interactive & more bitey with each generation, tho they were all in good loving care before anyone bit.
If anyone can offer any help I'd sure appreciated it, 1st litter son is my Frodo who bit me immediately when he came June 9 while the rescue person was still here bringing him, tho he'd never bit anyone before. I've never been bit as hard or as deep nor had a kid purposely come to me to do it like he does. I've had experience with bitey kids and always won them over soon, nothing works with this guy. Careful as I am now he came out of nowhere last night to bite me for the 5th time. And talking to the rescue person she's at a loss with the 3 boys she still has left (and probably won't be able to adopt out). Can't understand why they got nastier after the neuter. Does anyone have a clue what's going on with these kids? Help, please!!

How long has it been since their neuters? It could be that is hasn't been long enough for the hormones to dissipate. Not sure why it would be all of a sudden, especially with this timing. I am not experienced, but many more people who are will come along. Best of luck with the boys...I hope they will calm down after a time. :(

Thankyou AmandaTrexica, My Frodo was neutered May 27, the other boys same day or same week, came to me June 9,. The hard thing to understand is why a neuter would cause aggression that wasn't there before or increased aggression where it already existed. I could understand it happening in 1 kid as a personal anomaly, but not in 4 kids of the same parentange unless there was a genetic factor, but that's hard to understand when dad & grandpa (unneutered) were so sweet & gentle. It's like the lineage gets more nasty and the neuters exacerbate it?

After reading your post and putting things in perspective that is exactly what our Throttle is doing. We had him neutered because he was a terror in the cage to his brothers. He was always attacking someone. His neuter was May 21st - his cage behavior has improved, but he is now a biter. He has got me once, but that was a day or two after the neuter. He has gotten my bf a couple times now and will strike out of no where/for no reason. He will make it a point to go for his hand even if it isn't near him. Maybe something in their brains were effected from the anethesia?

How is Throttle with his cage buddies now?

Throttle was about 5 months old when neutered. He is much better with his cage mates. There are still fights, tussles, etc but NO where near as many as there used to be and sometimes he isn't even involved. Our biggest problem with him right now is the biting.

I will answer in your Throttle thread.

Frodo was 6-7 mo's at neuter. The 3 boys were 5 mo's. He's still making a point of coming to attack me when I'm not near or touching him.. I should mention he's not at all aggressive with the 4 girls, he's actually quite submissive and acquiescent to their desires, never bit any of them.

So the boys didn't become nasty after a neuter. They became nasty as they were at the right age to become extremely hormonal. The fact that the neuter happened at the same time has nothing to do with it.
It's too bad the boys have not settled down yet. How long ago where they neutered? I had a male take over 3 months before he calmed down and stopped biting me.

All 4 were neutered between May 27 & 29. Just seems odd that Frodo never even nipped before, then got vicious, and the 3 little nippers became biters, all right after the neuters! Must be some odd streak in them for this to occur with all 4. Well, I'll hold out hope that you're right and all 4 will become touchable in the next couple months. Thankyou, Jo.

Another thing though, could be the anesthetic or some type of trauma at the vet's clinic. Now that would not be a good thing and only tons of socializing and trust training would be helpful.

This is a weird one, I've never seen or heard anything like it. I liked your first comment better with it's assurance it's just a matter of time & patience til the boys get pat-able  Thanks for all you offer tho.
