Well someone brough the idea of neutering my oldest boy (a year and 5 months) to me *cough cough MissGuardian cough cough* XD

i've been thinking about it a bit and i'm still kinda scared to do it can someone help me out with some pros and cons?

You need to get something for that cough :giggle:
Maybe you should add something about WHY you´re considering it?

normal reasons make him calmer healthyer maybe make it easyer for him to have a friend

*cough cough what cough? cough cough*

Do it because manrats testicles are pure evil and must be removed.

I have 10 boys, each one has had it done for their own reason. 4 are awaiting the day for the removal of them.

Toby was a biter, and meanish kinda, so he was neutered

Finley was a little to forward for his size and age so I figured once he was bigger he might be a problem rat.

my 4 crabby bottom boys were done because well they are crabby. Templeton wont let anyone in his group without a major fight. You can see the high stress levels with them.

It is to early to tell on them if it had a calming affect, but Toby is such a little happy rat. It is stressful to spend your day rubbing all over everything. It does take away a lot of stress that they have when intact. you can see the difference a few weeks after it.

Another major plus rumor has less penis plugs, sorry that whole process is kinda gross so if it helps then yay.

I want my girls fixed to reduce the risk of tumors, if it has the same effect in the boys then so be it.

hes not really mean hes just kind of a spaz and the marking is driving me insane! im mostly worried about what if something goes wrong? or what if i cost alot of money?

Most males of any species are happier without their testicles....everything in my house (apart from the BF....he won't fit in a travel cage) is neutered or spayed. The new guy I just got is sweet, gentle and happy...his are going in the next two weeks lol.

Baxter is the lickiest, sweetest rat in the world....but as he got older and gained his health back he started marking all over the place and wouldn't accept Quinn. Neutered three weeks ago = only marks during intros, is actually getting along rather well in the intros and isn't as nippy.

Quinn was upset with people and generally anxious. Neutered 5 weeks ago = calmer happier manrat

Percy (MRRG foster who is now in his forever home) lost his original cagemate in Dec and was a marky, rat aggressive manrat. Neutered 4 weeks = stopped marking, calmed down around other rats and was generally happier.

Yes, any surgery does have risks, but the more knowledgeable your vet is, the less chance something will go wrong. The benefits (physically and mentally) for an animal being neutered or spayed outweigh the risks. Speak with your vet about your concerns and they will be happy to go over all of it with you

all of my other animals are fixed (apart for the bf 2 lol) i just never thought of doing it to my lil rats cuz there soo small now i think it would be better for both Loki and Jacoby (Crowley might have babies once i move) what age is the earlyest i should do it for loki?

There's a few good reasons for neutering males.

It can calm them if they are stressed, even if they aren't aggressive.

It reduces the chances of penis plugs.

There is talk that it can reduce the chances of pituitary tumours. And, testicular cancer! And prostate issues!

My favourite reason to get boys neutered? No buckgrease and they are soooo soft :)

I have two smushy, lovey boys who are around 1-year-old and I had them neutered in February. The marking is way down and yup, their fur is so much softer and of course they are even more smushy than before! :love1:

I was worried because I had them both booked on the same day and OMG what if something happened not just to one but both of them...yadda, yadda, yadda...All the scary thoughts are just that...scary thoughts, not reality based fact(s). :) I am so glad I braved up and got it done!

I didn't know it was possible to love these little monsters so much...I Love My Boys!! :love7: :tumkiss:

would love to have soft boys again XD i'm still not sure tho :/ if something went wrong i couldnt deal with it Jacobys my baby <3
