So, we tend to think it's better that our vet glues instead of stitches, because there are no stitches to rip out.

Gregory was neutered yesterday morning(Monday) and has been in his own half of the cage to sleep and recover(we know there was a lot of positive feeling towards putting him right back into the colony, but with this group, there really is no 'buddyness' and minimal out time together has been fairly negative.) Our current concern is this:

It appears that the dermabond(or whatever liquid glue they use) has let go - due to grooming? He's been keeping it clean, without obsessing over licking it constantly. No bleeding. It only appears to split open like this when we flip him over to check on it - just noticed it now when I went to check on it. Will definitely be calling the vet in the morning(no E-Vet we trust) and probably be making the drive back up north to get him reglued, but in the meantime, does anyone have any experience with this/thoughts/should we worry? He's very active and barely seems to be in pain, although he had Metacam 11 hours ago. =)Our last neuter abscessed, so we asked for Baytril this time around, so his danger of infection is fairly low.

Eeep? :sad3:

I had that happen to my Oliver. When I saw it I nearly died and drove like a mad woman back to the vet. They all laughed at me and told me not to worry that it will probably close up on it's own tomorrow. And they were right. It looked exactly like your little guy in the photo.
Just keep an eye on him and make sure his habitat is clean. The fact that is open is working in his favour, less chance of an abscess that way.

Thanks Jo, that's really comforting. =) He's on all fleece with really low ramps and hammocks, and we'll keep him away from our super butt sniffers for a bit longer than we had hoped. Probably wait on calling the vet unless it starts to look inflamed/stay open?

If you see swelling or turning a dark colour, then call the vet but I'm pretty sure it will be closed up and healing by tomorrow.

We've sort of held off on picking him up to look, but I caught a glimpse through a ramp he was walking up and it appears to be resealed and not red. So, healing as expected. Thanks again Jo!
