Well, I started to introduce my new girl Lily to the gang Monday and everything appeared to be going well this week which shocked me considering I find introductions stressful and my boy Cohen is a bully. I followed all the usual procedures for introductions and everything was calm despite all the sniffing. No one was even puffed-up! I got very excited and thought this was the best introduction ever!! Only after one week Lily can finally have friends! WRONG! Coco suddenly decided this afternoon, during another bathtub intro, that she didn't like Lily and gave her one nasty bite on her shoulder! :( There was some bleeding but after some pressure it stopped. Lily doesn't appear to be in pain as she is now sitting in a water dish eating frozen peas. In Debbie Ducommun's book it does say that rats usually heal quickly and that in most cases there is no need to do anything but I am worried about infection. I've never had a rat with such a deep cut before so that's why I'm so concerned. Should I treat it, if so with what? Or should I just wait and watch it? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Yep, leave it, I bet by tomorrow it will be scabbing over.
These things can happen but don't let that get you down. It could be just a hiccup in the intro. Keep at it.

aww poor girl. Kinda sounds like the intros I was doin with the new rescue boys though they were fine for almost an hr then Nygel decided to start humping Rex and he didn't like that to much lol Boys :emb: Good luck on the intros!

I almost called the vet on call because I found the bite pretty red but it doesn't appear to bother Lily one bit. Lily is now terrified of the other rats but her bite doesn't appear infected. Intros are so stressful!
