my rats wont go on the hammock

so ive built a great hammock for them and hung it up from the top of the cage

but the problem is

they wont go on it at all :(
theyve stepped on it once but thats all, whats wrong?
 
Try putting a treat in there. They might be concerned with it if they've never seen one before but I'm sure they will be cuddled in there.
Also, I've noticed with mine, they don't like certain areas for their hammocks. ...and some rats just don't like hammocks.
 
Just give it time, I've had rats take more than a couple of weeks to finally love hammocks. Like Jo said hide some treats in there. That works too.
 
its been about 2 months since i put up the hammock.

and ive never seen them lay in it

any other ideas on how to encourage them to lay on the hammock or where to hang the hammock
 
What Jo said, make sure the hammock is accessible, not too high. Yummy treats could make them want to check it out too.
