My fatter girls always seem to to be wet?

I believe I've read somewhere that rats have scent glands by their urethra. I'm not sure if that is true, or if I even read it before. I know that when I was working on introductions though, the girls that got poofy would also get very wet "down there".

Anyway, my fatter girls always seem to have this (if being fat means anything, or is just a coincidence):

It doesn't smell. It looks like they've peed on themselves..I'll have to wake them up before they potty to see if it's there.

Other than that, any ideas?

How old are they? Rat always mark too . Some of my girls were the biggest cage markers ever.

All three are around 20 months. Luma does mark a lot..pouncing on others and peeing on them is what she does best. :giggle:

Marking could account for some. You can put light colored things on the flooring of the cages to check for blood, strong smelling urine or other problems.

I use white liners quite often and about once weekly check everyone's urine for blood, but never thought to smell it, well, except Gloom's with her abscesses lately. Thank you for your help.
