I swear, these hoarding rescue boys are an adventure.

Just discovered today that one of Beryl's eyes is more...transparent?...than the other. Like, one eye is very clearly *red* pigmented. The other eye, if you look at it from the side angle, seems like you can see right through it. It's pale pink/whiteish inside. not cloudy, like a cataract, but almost like the eye is hollow? I dunno, it's very odd. I don't remember it being that way before but honestly I never paid THAT much attention before.

Will try to get pics if I can. they don't show up so well due to glare.

But any ideas?

I wonder if its his 3rd eyelid that is down? It can cause the eye to look opaque and even greyed out a bit. Lilith keeps getting stuff (fur, bedding, etc) under that eyelid and it needs to be removed. Sick rats often have theirs stay down.

Still trying to get a high-resolution, glare-free photo. But I don't think it's his 3rd eyelid; whatever's going on with his eye, it's definitely inside the structure of the eye itself. When I look at his eye, I can very clearly see his pupil, and then I can make out each vein in the eye itself -- the blood isn't coloring the eye the way it normally does.

From the description, it almost sounds like what my Oliver looked like when the vet put a dye in his eye to see what was going on. He had a scratch and we treated it with eye drops.
Does it look fluid filled? Is the eye bulging?

Not at all. In fact, it doesn't seem to be bothering him at all, although now it's freaking me out because I can't figure out what's going on. But it's not porphy or weepy at all, and it's open and not swollen at all. I haven't tested it with a pinlight yet to see if the pupil reacts to light, but he does close it when a finger comes close to it so I think he can see?

I would like a pic please?
