So we're going to the vet again, i swear sometimes it's like we live there lol

Monte is getting his ear checked out again because it's still smelling like garbage and still has gunk in it. So he'll be getting more meds I'm sure. I'm going to ask her about maybe doin a doxy and baytril combo to try and get rid of this stupid outer ear infection. It's friggin persistent!

Thai has been off for a little while now. At first we thought maybe she's just morning over everyone because she's the mother hen and took it hard losing so many of her sisters at once. But now I think she either is starting with PT or just has a URI.
She has been acting confussed and very strange. When I have my hand in front of her she does not react to it at all and then when I touch her she jumps like I scared her as if she didn't see me. Then she's really panic almost for me to pick her up. She sounds congested in both the nose and chest today and her breathing is looking a little harsh. Her furr is puffy, she has a little porphin on the nose and eyes.
She can still hold on to food and doesn't walk into anything. Do you think this could be early onset PT? Or maybe she had a stroke or something? What would 'cause her to be confused like that?

Hopefully Dr. Gallon can pin point it all.

Ya, same here, sometimes I think we should just get a cot and stay at the vet's.
It sounds like Thai have a URI. When they are struggling to breathe, they zone out and would explain why she would get scared when you do touch her.
As for Monte, I'd ask for something else, like Clavamox or even try the Convenia shot.

So we're back from the vet. *sigh* Thai is in rough shape. She has a URI which she's getting doxy for, and Dr. Gallon said that she has cateracts so she's going blind, and she has a tumor starting under her left armpit which can't be operated on because of her URI she's not a candidate. So we'll just have to make her as comfortable as possible. She's horrible to try and gets meds into, so I'm going to have to get some ensure. Maybe that will get her to take them better 'cause all the other tricks don't work.

Monte still has a lot of yellow discharge in his ear she said. So we're trying something new. It's a baytril ear ointment stuff that we have to put in his ear. I'm hoping this does the trick. She thinks it will 'cause the antibiotics will be right in the ear, so we'll just wait 'n see. It doesn't even bother him but my fear was if it wasn't aggressively treated he could get a head tilt so I'm glad it's almost gone!

Man a hundred bucks goes fast in one vet visit. I miss Dr. Dunnet lol she wouldn't have charged us nearly as much. But we're still getting to know Dr. Gallon.

eeesh, trying to get meds IN the ear should be intresting huh?

I'm glad this is all working out for you guys, you've had a rough go of it lately.
:hugs:

It's actually easier to get him to take meds in the ear then by syringe lol It's a two person job for sure. But he does well to keep still when I hold him. He's a good boy!

monte is so funny sometimes.. hes already a licky boy.. but when hes at the vet or nervous about somehting else, he starts licking us like CRAZY...
hope this works.. i have a good feeling about this med tho.

i feel so bad for our thai... shes such a good girl, she just doesnt deserve to go thru all this :sad3:
thats life tho. we will just keep on letting her know how loved she is.

This ear cream stuff is AMAZING! Monte's ear is already not smelling as much I am so impressed! Best invention ever lol

Thai is still not doing well she sleeps a lot and was quite congested today. I'm having a really hard time getting her to take her meds. I'm trying it with cool whip which kinda works. I might get some strawberry quick and see if that will be easier.

Starbuck had sprained her foot pretty good the other day. The swelling has come down but I still feel like there's something up with her. She's extremely tiny compared to the other girls and I get the feeling maybe there's something internally wrong with her. We're going to have to get a vet appointment for her I think and see if Dr. Gallon can find out anything.

so off to the vet again today for both monte and thai... ... montes ear infection is so freaking stubborn... and hes finally starting to show signs that its bugging him... yesterday he scratched his ear and it blead like a mo-fo. blood all down his fur on under his ear.
AAAND thai was on doxi and seemed better again has been having trouble with her breathing over the hollidays.. so linds brought them back to dr gallon today. dr gallon said monte had quite a bit of moisture in his ear from the infection . so we have to clean it good with a q-tip and then use that liquid stuff we have (cant remember the name at the top of my head) to clean it out more help dry the moistrue. and then antibiotic drop... hopefully this works.. its weird.. some days his ear is better than others...
and thai will be back on doxi i believe thats what dr gallon gave her... i wasnt able to go, didnt know if we would be baack in time for work... so linds went with her brother
so lets see how this goes. round ... um.. ah forget it, i lost track. :gaah: lol

its weird..she got better.. or so it seemed.. but then it came back ... ugh... we will see what happens, if it doesnt improve, back to the vet she goes for a stronger dose or somthing else... maybe we stopped too early last time?... we were concerned about it being expired so we stopped .. she seemed better at the time anyway.. so we didnt think much of it..
wish all rats had the same illness everytime .... it would make things easier to treat.. buuuut, its always somthing new all the time.. oh well, keeps things interesting lol . .. is this how parents with human children feel??? lol
