Soooo, I had no clue that rats molted and got an adult coat until I started using this forum.
My question is, how old are rats when they molt into their adult coat? I have a suspicion that my Pashmina is molting because the area around her nose has gotten much lighter but I'm not sure if she's too old to molt? She is apparently approximately 4 months old.

Love the name Pashmina. 3 to 4 months seems about right. But it can be younger as well, it all depends on their level of aging and maturing.

Ahhhh ok, so she probably is molting! She has started to turn from looking more brown-ish to looking more blue like I was told she was. ^_^
And thanks jorats! I had named my first rat Bijoux because I liked the name for one, but it was also a character off of Hamtaro (a japanese cartoon about hamsters, lol), and so I named Pashmina and Penelope after characters off of the show as well! :p

These are the characters, lol.
