I have revololution coming, but it is a few days away. I have Tractor supply store here, what I can from there to stop this? My poor boy is getting horrible scabs i need to go get it now.

I forgot to update, i was going to do that, but them and oil in a cage with shavings, didnt sound fun! I went and got the ivermectin and will do them in revo after a week. it is the 4 crabby bottom boy group who i put back with my girls before i noticed they had them :emb:

I will treat the rest when the revo comes in but for now poor ludo is tearing himself up in just a matter of days.

Oh good, ivermectin is pretty good too.

It terrifies me but for whatever reason the revolution took forever to get it shipped. It is in wisconsin now so I should have it in a few days. I only did the ones with the visual problem with is ludo's group with it. Those little farts found it on the toast and ate around it. I had to put more smelly stuff on it, to make them eat it, I had a heck of a time fooling them with it. I will stick with revo, but I thought he was getting bite by the other boys from putting them back in the cage with the girls. Then in the matter of days it was spreading. It I go to the vet Monday morning. I was gonna wait but i needed to do something it was killing me that he was itching. I couldn't stand it. So i will dose the ones i didn't do today when i get the revo, then do them next weekend with it. The only thing i can figure is i didn't freeze that cat litter which normally i do, but i didn't this time. I wont do that again.

I will be. once i get the revolution done. I don't have anything wood that they use in there it is all plastic and fabric. I can just bleach every thing else down right?

Yep...and the play area too. :)

What do mites look like on a rat?
Leya has red dots on her ear and Kaina has some on her wrist.. but they don't seem to scratch that much.

hope, I hope that ur kid's will feel better soon!

Mites you cannot see, you only know that from scratching or scabs. if you see sores on them, it could be from scratching.

you can see lice which are little orange specks in the fur.

It is hard to say, lice is orange looking so it could but, but it might help if you took a photo.

This is more of a curiosity question since I don't currently have any mites here *knock on wood*

You said that you need to bleach everything: cage, accessories and play area.
So, if the play area is carpet, does vacuuming get rid of them or do you have to do something else? Obviously you can't bleach carpet :p

I would assume some sort of spray or something. Massive vacuum uses? That is a good question though. I dont have carpets here but I know most do that their rats roam on.

Jo? LOL

I am at work right now, finish at 11 so the pic's will have to wait for tomorrow.

All I can add is that Kaina's spot's sometime's rub off ( I take my finger and rub them off), but Leya's ear spot's seem stuck there.

It sounds like your girls have porphyrin staining, it can be hard to wipe off sometimes.
