So I have 2 rats out of all 27 showing signs of mites. I have decided to treat everyone with ivermectin (sp?) but I think the bubs are still too young (they will be 5 weeks Friday), so what should I do with them? I was thinking about oiling everyone up, does that really work?

Yeah I am pretty sure oil is only effective on lice too.

Lilratsy, can you get a hold of a tube of revolution, at least for the 5 week olds?

I asked the vet for revolution, but he said they didn't carry it!

Thanks Eagle! Your a life saver!!!

Ok so the vet just called me and told me that I need to remove Arbor and the bubs to a completely different room and keep them out of contact with the other rats while I treat them...

This makes no since to me. They have already been exposed. I brought them home almost 4 weeks ago, and Teddy started showing symptoms soon after that (at first I thought it was just barbering but then Teddy's hairloss changed to more of a thinning and directly behind his ears)...so what is moving them now going to accomplish? What are you guys thoughts on this?

yeah, makes no sense, BUT your vet also thinks you are leaving them untreated, not that a friend is sending you the Revolution to treat them :)

I wouldn't worry.
