My two boys have mites from a bad batch of carefresh. I forgot to freeze it (oops) before using the bedding. I usually don't use carefresh for my boys so I didn't think too much of it.

So now they have mites. Monday night to Tuesday night, they were covered in some olive oil and when I washed it off, their fur was super soft and they didn't itch as much. However, I really hate seeing Splinter's face all scabbed up and Ratacus scratching himself so badly. I don't think the olive oil is working but it's providing some relief?

So I ordered some Revolution and some Ivermectin. Why did I get both, I don't know. But since I have both, which one should I use? I have heard that ivermectin will take care of lice but not mites. But I've also read the complete opposite.

Is it dangerous to use both at the same time?

This is pretty much my first time treating mites so sorry if I sound totally out there.

You don't want to use both. I would do the Revolution as it would mean only a one time application and safer to use on rats.
Ivermectin has always worked on my rats for both lice and mites.

I think what you heard talked about was Advantage, which is usually useless with mites but still works with lice. Both ivermectin and revolution work on both, but as Jo said, use the Revo, easier for you and them, and safer. No, you cannot use them at the same time.
