I called my vet 2 weeks ago...they could not get me in that week so the tech said she would talk to the vet and see if I could just come and buy some revolution for my gang.
2 days later I called back still no idea said they would call back, another 2 days go by I call back and still nothing...now my vet is on vacation for 2-3weeks and her replacement admits she knows nothing about rats and does not like rats, :gaah:
I have called around other offices will not see them either!
I am desperate my poor babies are suffering from the itchiness. I know I can use ivermectin the only thing I found was Zimecterin Gold Equine Dewormer > ivermectin and praziquantel
I didn't not buy it 'cause I was not sure about the 2nd ingredient praziquantel anyone have any ideas?

*edit for spelling!*

Thank you! I could not find a website that did not require a perscription that shipped to Canada!
I do not think there is lice I cannot see anything on them just scabby and itchy...poor babies! and Seems only effected are the two girls I got from NS and my older girl.
likely the crappy bedding that was in the girls cage when I got them...and now that they are in the same cage as my others I am afraid all will soon have them too...

Oops, I thought you said lice. And if you have them in the same cage as the others, you should separate them !! Even if the others don't look affected, they will be soon if they are sharing a cage.
I hope your babies get better!!

I worry about seperating my old girl from her family, she is bonded with two other girls that are not showing signs of being infected. And the 2 girls I would house her with are fairly new not bonded with her and the younger of these two is a horrible bully!
I think being placed in a smalled cage without her bonded "sisters" would be highly stressfull for her and she is old (22months) and seems to become ill from stress easily she does not like change at all.

Can you find a vet that will just sell you revolution?
Then you can weigh each rat and give the appropriate dose yourself.
If you can't find a vet in Saint John, you might have to travel to Moncton or F'ton.

All vets I called said they will not sell it without seeing the pet of course! and none will see a rat...except my vet and she has desided to take vacay!
I am going to call my vets again tomorrow and beg for the revolution they have all the rats on file weights and everything. So hopefully if I sound desperate the replacement vet will sell me some revolution.
I will tell her I can figure out dosage if she sells to me...

No point in separating them now, they all have it and even if they didn't I would treat them all regardless.

It's actually illegal for a vet to sell revolution without having a doctor/patient relationship, ie, seeing your animal. They can get into HUGE trouble for it. Also, your rats pretty much always have mites - they can be asymptotic. If one has them, they all have them, and its better to treat them all once you have a treatment in hand. But that doesn't mean they are all going to show symptoms - generally only the ones with weak immune systems will get all itchy. I wouldn't separate. But find a vet that returns your calls before going on vaca, for goodness' sake! :wallbang:

If I were you I would buy it from Pets Megastore as rattylover suggested. You don't need a prescription because you're ordering from Australia. They've streamlined their shipping process - the last time I ordered I got it in my mail box in less than 2 weeks.
